Methyl bromide (CH₃Br) is a potent, colorless, and odorless gas used as a versatile fumigant. It controls a broad spectrum of pests—including insects, fungi, nematodes, rodents— the use of Methyl Bromide is often necessary to meet quarantine or pre-shipment (QPS) and phytosanitary or other contractual requirements for imports and exports.

Under emergency use provisions, Methyl Bromide can also be used in soil, post-harvest, structures (grain storage facilities, flour mills, food processing units), and transport fumigation (ships, freight containers, trucks or trains carrying agricultural commodities) to control all kinds of pests.
